KURT KUHN FILES FOR THIRD COURT OF APPEALS
Cites Experience and Dedication to Texas Appellate Courts

Austin, Texas–This morning, Austin attorney Kurt Kuhn officially filed to run for Justice on the Third Court of Appeals, citing his commitment to the Texas appellate courts.

“I have dedicated my career to the Texas Appellate Courts,” stated Kuhn. “I am seeking a seat on our Third Court of Appeals to put my experience to work for Texas.” Citing the court’s current backlog–which includes cases that are for more than four years old–Kuhn said that he would work tirelessly, apply the law evenhandedly, and never forget the importance of each case to the parties and the jurisprudence of Texas.

“The Third Court is one of the most important courts in Texas, due to the nature of the cases it hears. It would be an honor to use my skills and experience to serve the people of Texas as a Justice on the court,” said Kuhn.

Kuhn has extensive experience in appellate law. Board certified in civil appellate law, Kuhn chairs the appellate practice group at Brown McCarroll, one of the oldest firms in Austin. He also teaches appellate advocacy as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Law. Prior to joining Brown McCarroll, Kuhn served as an assistant solicitor general, representing the state of Texas in civil and criminal appeals.

Since announcing his intention to run one year ago, Kuhn has built up a solid base of support across the district. Over 600 prominent community members have joined onto the campaign, and Kuhn has received endorsements from State Senator Kirk Watson and Travis County Sheriff Greg Hamilton, as well as many other current and former elected officials in the district. A full list is available on his website, www.votekuhn.com

At 10:00 a.m., Kuhn officially filed his ballot application with the Texas Democratic Party, which will place him on the March 2nd primary ballot. In preparation to file, Kuhn’s campaign gathered over 900 signatures from voters across the Third Court district, which spans 24 Central Texas counties. “I’m proud of the grassroots support we’ve built up across the district, and the work my campaign has already done to spread my message to the voters,” stated Kuhn. “Texans understand the importance of our courts and our justice system. I am committed to running a campaign worthy of the office I am seeking and, if I elected, I am just as committed to making sure that the Third Court is an institution of which all Texans can be proud.”

Kuhn is running for the seat currently held by Justice Jan Patterson, who is leaving the court at the end of her term.
