Kurt Kuhn Fundraising Tops $120,000 For Campaign

Third Court Candidate Has Consecutive Strong Reports

Austin, Texas–Kurt Kuhn announced today that he has now raised a total of $120,149.98 in his campaign for the Third Court of Appeals. On the Texas Ethics Commission report filed yesterday by his campaign, Kuhn showed $56,956.58 raised over the past six months, bringing his overall haul to $120,149.98.

“I am humbled by the support and encouragement that I have received from so many people across the district, and from leading attorneys statewide,” stated Kuhn. Over the past six months, the Kuhn campaign received 204 donations from 183 individual donors, for an average of $279 per contribution. Overall, Kuhn has received support from 402 donors throughout his campaign.

After the January 4th filing deadline, the campaign turned its focus to the general election, as Kuhn is unopposed in the Democratic Primary. “We’re committed to running a 24-county race because that’s what the people of the Third Court district deserve. That’s what this seat deserves,” stated Kuhn. “Obviously that takes financial resources, and I am proud that we have received strong support to take our message to the entire district.”

Kuhn’s fundraising underscores the strength of his candidacy and campaign. Kuhn is the only candidate in the race who is board certified in appellate law, and has dedicated his career to the Texas appellate courts. Currently chair of the appellate practice group at Brown McCarroll, Kuhn also teaches appellate advocacy at the University of Texas School of Law. Kuhn boasts the public support of over 600 prominent individuals across the district, including many of Austin’s leading attorneys.

Kuhn’s donors include an impressive roster of attorneys across the Third Court district, representing leaders from both the Plaintiff and Defense bar. Over a dozen leading firms contributed to his campaign over the past six months. This is in addition to over a dozen firms that contributed immediately upon Kuhn entering the race back in June.

While the bulk of his financial support comes from attorneys and law firms, Kuhn has a strong backing from regular citizens who simply care about the quality of our courts. For instance, Dee and Adrian Guinn, retirees in Horseshoe Bay, donate $50 every month to support the campaign. They met Kuhn at a gathering in Llano back in the summer.

Kuhn’s campaign already has a series of events planned over the coming months to continue his strong fundraising efforts, including gatherings at firms in Travis, Williamson, Caldwell, and Bastrop Counties, and a 40th Birthday celebration on Thursday, February 4th.
